Song Book

Alistair described the origins of the Songbook page as follows.

The idea for an online songbook, with lyrics, chords and downloads, occurred to me when I got word of a Roaring Jack fans’ reunion and sing-around in Sydney to mark the 20th aniversary of the band’s first night at the legendary but ‘sadly gentrified’ Sandringham Hotel in Newtown NSW. How time flies, eh?? Many old Roaring Jack songs are still part of my regular solo repertoire, so over the next week while I’ll be loading up some MP3s of acoustic guitar versions here, of songs that won’t probably ever get proper studio versions done of them again. Tunings and playing tips are thrown in free. As well as those chestnuts, there will also be a few later songs posted here too, that have been stripped back to the bare bones, the way I normally do them live. These aren’t commercial quality recordings, but hopefully the relaxed performances will compensate a bit for the reduced fidelity of sound.

We will to expand the Songbook as time allows. To be notified of future updates please subscribe to the news RSS feed. Anyone who needs more info and playing tips than I’ve included on the pdf downloads can post their queries on the Songbook Forum.
